BYLAWS CHANGES
On Saturday April 8th we had a meeting to propose some changes to our chapter bylaws. Below are those that were suggested:
Potential Bylaws Changes
Phrasing
Change every time it mentions “pledges”, “pledge process”, etc to “new members”, “new member process”
Change every time it refers to “she/he”, “his/her” or “him/her”, etc. to “they” or “theirs”
Change “Membership in this chapter shall be open to all individuals without regard to race, color, creed, sex, age, sexual orientation, handicap or Greek affiliation” to “...race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, political ideologies, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, ability, or Greek affiliation.”
Change “Members from other chapters will be accepted into Active Membership upon completion of Transfer of Membership forms and after approved by Active Members.” to “Members from other chapters will be accepted into Active Membership upon completion of Transfer of Membership forms.”
New Membership
Add “Must innovate and execute group service projects with fellow new members as well as complete a creative class fellowship.”
Add Attend elections to Rights of New Members

Change fellowship requirement
“Must complete the equivalent of 5.0 fellowships each semester.”
Election Procedures
Change “Nominations from the floor will open at least one week before elections and will end before speeches for that position are given” to “will close at the beginning of the Elections meetings.”

Article V - Powers and Duties of Elected Officers
All officers
“ii. If budgets are overdrafted, there will be disciplinary action determined by the President and Treasurer.”
Decides disciplinary actions associated with their position as needed due to brothers’ attendance and behavior at events
President - add “maintains good standing with national office through officer portal and apo online, etc.”
New Member Educator - Combine NME assistant and New Member Educator - change to New Member Educator Co-Chairs
Change “Rush event” - “recruitment”
Assists in scheduling New Member group projects and fellowships with appointed chairs.
One new member educator must have completed one semester of active membership

Vote to be reinstated - a full academic position - under SAAs
We will be voting on these changes in Chapter on Monday April 17th. 2/3rd of our Chapter must be there in order for us to vote on these changes! There will be an open section where you can state your concerns anonymously to Kayla Goodwin about the changes, and a hard copy of the Potential Bylaws Changes will be in the office until Monday 4/17. This is REALLY important and requires your help!
